A couple of days ago the fuel gauge died (always reporting no fuel).
Today the drove 70 miles (full tank). Then it started rumbling and cut out. AAs fault readout looked like full on Armageddon... all systems reporting issues.
Engine control, parking brake, instrumentation, central electronics system, battery management, parking aid, convenience, hvac, driver info... you name ... at least 40 error codes...
Any thoughts? (Beyond: torch it and call the insurance company )

Oh also - a roadside misfile drain was performed as I put in diesel from (black) canister found in shed... apparently there was "gunk" fuel. But after flush it starts and cuts out...

hi,
speak to the dealer L/R about the gauge there is a known issue with wires on top of sender, had mine replaced under warranty
Yes - I had the sender as my prime suspect ... is there a way to inspect these wires without taking tank out?

If the vehicle thinks it is nearly out of fuel it will simulate fuel starvation and then simulate a complete breakdown, no matter what is actually in the tank.

Had a similar breakdown with a new Mondeo.
Car was full of fuel but the gauge showed empty and the car cut out and would not restart.
AA man came out and banged the fuel tank, gauge came back up and car started.
As Robbie says if the car thinks it's out of fuel it won't run.
New in tank sender sorted it out.D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.
D3 2005 HSE, Bonatti Grey, now sold but still comes back for servicing.
Defender 2002 Td5 Commercial, had a hard life but slowly being restored.
I only work so I can afford to repair my Land Rovers!
