Sea was 10-15 weeks in the eighties , but we had economy-air ( half the price of airmail , but only 5 days longer ) so all was not lost . That all disappeared in 2002 and now there's only really air , but some sellers charge true-cost ( like the above company ) whilst far too many still load the price .

You were lucky, a few weeks ago I was selling my D2 but need to get it through it's NCT (MOT), it had failed on a swivel joint.
I used that site and selected the option "Switch to our shop in Ireland? Local shop in Ireland"
Part was less than €8 and I paid €15 for next day shipping.
As I had placed the order on a Monday, I thought it would be safe to book the car into the garage for Thursday, Thursday cam and went without the part arriving and I rang them on the Friday to ask where it was and was told that its not in stock but we should have it Mon or Tuesday and I would have it Tue or Wed.
I told them to stick it where the sun don't shine and to send me a full refund (I got refund same day), placed an Order with Island4x4 and the following Monday I had the part and got it fitted the same day.
Like I told the guy on the phone, if they didn't have the part in stock, they should have told me as I had paid twice the price of the part just to be sure I had it in time. Dale
