Airbag Warning Light
Classification
Electrical
Problem
It would appear that due to a shortage of airbags, to keep the production line running alternative (Ford) airbags are being fitted to the D3. However, adjusting the front electric (also perhaps non-electric?) seats may stretch the airbag cabling, affecting the electrical connection and causing the airbag warning light to come on and then stay on when the vehicle is started.

the only fix at the moment is to replace the side airbag and leave enough slack in the cable to allow the seat to move without stretching the cable

Hi, If we use the heated seats it puts the airbag warning light on. Fantastic mechanically - we've given up looking at all the warning messages! Turn it off and on again and all well.

I would get it looked at nonetheless, because while the warning lamp is on the srs would be disabled or partially disabled depending on the severity of the problem

Airbag warning light
 My Disco 3 has been back with an airbag warning light fault over 9 times. Every time they send it back saying they found the fault (each time different) 30 miles or so later - back comes the light! She is back with the same fault now. Has anyone ever got this fixed? My Discovery has had too many faults to even list.

Welcome to the site Carla - how old is your D3? Sounds like you might be getting in to the realm's of 'handing it back' ... Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

My wife's TDV6 base had this fault from new. It recurred each time I drove the car but not when she did. Reported to Guy Salmon who claimed to have "fixed" the problem only for it to re-occur next time I drove it. Eventually deduced it was moving the seat base that triggered the problem. Once I told GS this they simply unclipped and reclipped a multiplug under the dreivers seat and "robert is your aunty's husband". All Ok for 3000 miles now (touch wood)God I love these cars!
Now D4 SDV6 Santorini Black facelift Black Pack Sidesteps and Privacy
Ex D4 SDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Ex RRS tvd8 HSE
Ex TDV6 7 seats Zambezi Silver
Is this warning light correctly known as the "SRS warning light" in the manual?
The warning lamp I refer to is seen in the Tacho dial on the RHD models.
I have this problem and twice the dealer has tried to fix it but the light has come back on. I rarely move the drivers seat as I only drive the car however I store a foldable windscreen sunshield under the passenger seat (on the LHS). Could this be fouling any wiring causing the lamp to light up?
My D3 is a Feb 05 build and this problem only occurred about 6 weeks ago.
Thanks

The fault was the rotational connector between the steering wheel and sterring column.
So far so good - no more SRS Warning light.

I have also had this part replaced, the part was over £100, (warranty claim ) I thought they were taking the Mick, but is has been ok since.Arctic Frost Discovery 3 TDV6 SE, Active Rear Diff, Adaptive Head Lights, Tow Pack, Ebony Leather, Roof Rails, Mantec Guard. Tasmod Stainless Sill plates. Grabber AT's. Home made mud flaps. Side Steps back on until the next time.
We had the airbag light problem from new and had the car in a few times. They said that there were bent pins in the connector and each time they adjusted this but it only then worked Ok fro a short time.
Eventually they I think replaced a part (not sure what part) and it has been OK for quite some time now.

Hi my airbag warning light seems to randomly come on - sometimes on ignition and stays on, sometimes it goes out on ignition then comes on about 4 mins later and stays on - sometimes it doesn't come on for half an hour..... its become more frequent lately and I'm concerned about driving it longer distances - the dealer cleared the fault some time ago but its out of warranty a long time (end 05 car) - are there any recent experiences of this airbag light problem - and cure ?
