Suspension Fault

Hi All

The suspension fault light and dash warning "Suspension Fault Normal Height Only" have appeared on my dash.

I had the fault codes read today at my local independent which have shown

DTC:C1A20
Pressure Increases To Slowly. Signal Plausibility

Talking things through with them, as the truck does not sink in height over night they have sad it is more than likely the compressor motor on its way out.

Apparently the compressor for my year of vehicle (07) has been superseded and have just been quoted the following as a ball park estimate for the repair

New Genuine Parts Compressor (circa) £600
Labour to fit £90
Trip to main dealer to program compressor £85
all plus VAT

So my question is this....there must be another way to fix this problem, has anyone come across this before? I know seal and dryer kits are available off e-bay at approx. £100 but that wont be much good in this case!

Has anyone any thoughts that may help.

Thanks

Joe

I think a dryer kit is exactly what you need.

If the dryer is blocked no air will get through and will give the same symptoms as the motor being on it's way out.

To check for free, take the dryer off, get the silica gel out of it, separate the dust and discard it.
Then Microwave the silica until it changes from the off white/cream colour to a sort of translucent blue.

Stick it all back together and I'd like to bet it will be better.

Thanks Nasher

is the dryer inline on an air circuit somewhere? I'll have a look later tonight!

Are dryer kits available?

Thanks

Unfortunately the dryer is attached to the compressor, and the whole assembly needs to come off to work on it.

It's made of black plastic, about the size of a coke can.

Loads of images on here if you use the search function.

They were available as a spare part, but not any more sadly, so the ebay kits are a good option.

I managed to change the dryer on mine without removing the compressor from the vehicle. Fiddly but definitely do-able. More details here, including pics of what you'll probably find inside the dryer:

Hi DiscoJoe90!
I just fitted a new compressor and think it's better then the old one. AMK vs Hitaschi. Seems like it's have more power and raise the car faster and smoother.
Bought minne from 4x4 Island. 325 excl vat for old hitachi or 420 AMK.

It's a easy job 1 hour top.
Easy to Upgrade software and 85 is a rip off.

So do it yourself, buy a new AMK and find someone that csn Upgrade cheaper then 85.

Thanks guys

I think i'll look at the dryer first, failing that a new compressor it is....wondering if the software could be done at the same time as a re-map!

Cheers

I just replaced the old silica, with new and fresh.
Just open up the old one, and empty it.

My just looked like white powder.
Easy job though,

I ended up with buying a new compressor as well, due to the original looked like its been
under there since it was new. My plan was to try overhaul it. But`s to much corroded bolts and
stuff made it impossible to open it.

I recomend to change the whole unit.

John
