D4 Camera from surround camera system.
pictures for info really ,im using this camera to base my caravan camera kit on because most people have got the surround camera system fitted as factory.
Its quite a tiny little thing, i think it will be perfect on a caravan if i can get it to work lol.
I will i think need to use a different camera for the D4's that are fitted with the rear view only.

Yes m8, but there are 2 types it seems.
This one from the surround type set up which goes through the camera modle , and another which costs more for the single type set up which goes direct to the nav screen.
Camera looks the same as the one I've got but the connector is different, mine splits into 2 wires for power and one for the video with a Fakra connector on the end instead of the Rosenberger one for everything that that's got.
Pete, has that got a part no, on it?The End

The part number from landrover is LR01630 for the one i have.
The camera you have can not be used on a surround camera system you should use the above.
The above and surround cameras use low voltage differential signaling sent over a twisted pair of wires like the 11bit or 29bit CAN does.
So to run surround system et up you need all low voltage differential signaling cameras wired to the camera module.
The one you have has a different output to the surround cameras and is not designed to run into the camera module which is why it has a different connector set up.
Pete
PS, give me a price for the ones you have with the 2 connectors if its cheap ill buy one to take apart and see how it ticks.

the surround system control box pictured up only jumper rear camera input to the coaxial output that is a slim black cable thas is left to the 5 camera conector, and the main screen switchs to this coax when reverse is engaged, why dont use a relay that switchs from the output of the surround camera control box to rear coaxial standard (and a lot cheaper) camera ot whatever video input? this gave us a loooot more option to insert video in the screen, this is the cable that i will use to the car pc, aux rear inalambric trailer camera, dvd, PS3.....when i have time. this input is conected when you engage the reverse or the camera button is depressed at the main screen, with NO speed limits!!!! so: no 200€ speed limiter eliminator. only a selectable video input switch is needed

the camera leads are not normal coax leads ..there high speed data leads with a specific connector on them
If your on about putting a video source into the screen ..then you do not need to do any thing with the cameras ...there is 2 pins on the rear of the touch screen which will accept an Av signal ( well there are actually 6 pins ...3 different sources )G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Wiggs, will be looking at the back of the screen when I get time. Have you any pictures of the connectors and do you use the cable that you mentioned before from the forum shop? one last question, looking to get an extra camera to go on the back of the caravan, that is what I want the feed into the screen for, does that feed have to be switched on via the screen or will any feed in via these plugs over ride what ever is on the screen already.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
