Wife comes in and says she thinks she has run over a cat..
..... bemused, I go out to check and after a bit of further investigation discover that the EPB has started to screech at her....
I have read pretty much all of the info on the EPB but can someone just confirm that this is the correct course of action?
Symptoms - when the parking brake is applied a noise is heard from under the car at the rear. The red parking brake light on the dash starts to flash.
So far... I have managed to release the parking brake by holding down the switch whilst removing the ign key. It just made normal whirring noise as it released. Fuse removed to prevent further actuation. I have jacked it up at the rear and confirmed that the parking brake has released.
Plan... remove rear disks and clean then adjust and lubricate the parking brake shoes as per Bodsy's instructions, replace fuse and apply the brake manually twice to reset it.... have I missed anything?
(It is a 2007 pauper spec manual by the way)

think you may have to re adjust more than twice, after it beds in
think there was a problem with brake lining detaching...others may know more
If your adjusting the brakes shoes and not replacing them, what you have said is good to go, if you replace the shoes then a bedding in procedure is required and another adjustment after to take up the slack in the shoes.

Cheers Flack - just about to give it a go... hopefully a good clean up and adjustment will suffice. By the way, I am astonished how high the body lifts before the wheels come off the ground - I cannot believe that the supplied scissor jack will lift it high enough!... A good clean and adjustment has solved the problem... everything looked in good order and the shoes were hardly worn but lots of brake dust. Easy job to do so I must remember to check the adjustment regularly. Hopefully it will be ok for a while.2007 Base D3 - Buckingham Blue
