lots of black smoke when under load, lifting off the throttle slightly releiving the load smoke stops.
no reduction in performance just embarasing 147000 on the clock egrs blanked any suggestions?

If your EGR's are blanked,have a look at your intercooler hose for splits,that's another potential culprit  "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool,than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I had this,
Everybody said split inter cooler pipe. So I replaced it. Didn't fix it.
Turned out the intercooler had a crack in it. New intercooler fixed it
But would replace the pipe first though for the sake of £50

Yep - I had this when accelerating hard. Was the intercooler. Had a crack in it. Crack was surrounded by oil. Is an easy job to replace if the bumper fixings are not rusted solid. Mines were. Intercooler replacement guide on this forum is worth reading if you are going to do it.
