Given the horror stories of twisted cheap oil filters, I'll only ever use and have only ever used genuine oil filters. Just not worth the risk IMHO.Bodsys Brake Bible

Much as I dislike the company mentioned here Mann & Hummel are a good OEM filter supplier, I would be more concerned about the base oil offered.Paul Redding

So do you consider Mahle to be an aftermarket supplier or OE?Paul Redding

Have to agree with Steve here.
While it probably would do, the discussions with customers highlight they are much more confident when you turn up with fully synthetic branded oil, as Steve supplies with his kits.
Would use it in the wife's Freelander, but wouldn't go anywhere near my disco My D3 Build Thread

Today's Mahle delivery.....
Interesting point from Mahle a little while back about filters for Peugeot/Citroen/Ford/Fiat small diesel engines - They designed them, they are very similar to the TDV6 design with that spigot on the bottom, in this particular technical bulletin they very strongly recommend never fitting anything other than a Mahle filter to these engines because the copies (to get around patents) have a slightly different spigot and can let oil pressure drop!
On the oil front, this industry is about to be regulated and soon all packs will show certified contents, it has been all to easy to say an oil meets a specification but now it will need proving (I believe it can be ignored but then who will buy without this marking in the future)Paul Redding
