We are also going away in the van in a couple of weeks and taking our 18 & 12 month old Labs for the first time also as a trial run for leaving our van on site for the summer:| like you we're going to a site not far from home in case it all goes t s up with the dogs as the 18 month old is barking at everything at the moment and we can bring them home and the eldest daughter who's not coming with us can look after them [/url]On a mission to find the perfect Pork Pie. Just Found it (I think)..(Yes I have)

Get a foldable soft crate if you haven't already and get them used to that at home so it has their smell and favourite blanket.
You can then used that for them to sleep in the awning which is what we now do with Dexter.
He'll only bark if it's worth barking at now although during the day he tends to take offence to certain people for no good reason which can be annoying.
I keep him on a long line (think it's about 5m sheathed wire with one end having a sprung end to stop it being a harsh jerk if they pull to the extent of travel)) which attaches to his collar like a lead and this I attach to the caravan wheels when he is in the awning or to the rear of the D3 when we're outside
He's now used to it and fears of him strangling himself or getting tangled up were unfounded MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)
