Quote:The most common vehicle seen unlawfully towing without mirrors was the Land Rover Discovery.
A significant number of vulnerable road users such as cyclist and Motorcyclist have been killed and or injured by caravanners not using Towing Mirrors.
I would challenge that 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

The strange thing is there is no trace of this case on the ASA website
http://www.asa.org.uk/Rulings/Adjudication...rs#results 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I'd also argue they're not "blind" either as you can see quite a lot - in fact I can see "enough" that I could do without tow mirrors if I really needed to - not that I do, I use Milenco Grande Aero convex which give me a much larger field of view.
I would challenge their evidence of LR being worst offenders, to say so I'd assume they'd need to keep evidence of the count? MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Ok, I am guilty. I have been towing for years without using extension mirrors. However, I have just bought some mirrors because the new caravan does not have a rear window, and I can no longer see through the caravan.
I find the D4 mirrors are ok for towing, but the extension mirrors I have just bought do allow me to see more.

Unless I can see down the side of the van I'm not comfortable, only recently I was behind a motor cyclist coming up behind a caravan, the motor cyclist started to pull out to overtake and was just by the offside rear of the caravan when the caravan also started to pull out to overtake, Toyota Land Cruiser towing a Bailey Unicorn with no mirrors, no way could he see down the side of his van, as I pulled out to overtake him it wasn't until I was in the middle of lane two before I could see his off side mirror, so I know he couldn't have seen me till then.

I think we have our sacrificial lamb. As a forum we can tell the powers that be that we have completed a full internal investigation and taken the appropriate action. We have sent Gareth to the Russian front or made him buy an X5 or whatever the latest punishment would be. Mods:

There's no way you can achieve the correct rearward view from the majority of cars, including the Discovery, without towing mirrors of some sort.
http://www.caravantimes.co.uk/features/art...380477.htm
The problem we have is that there are many people who have been battered by the media into believing that 4x4 owners are responsible for most accidents involving caravans - witness the number of comments on caravan forums where some folk reckon they have seen "many" overturned caravans and nearly always it's a 4x4, particularly a Discovery, involved in the accident. I have to agree that I dont think we are the worst offenders.
I would like to nominate Ford Mondeo caravaners. I've based my extensive research on travelling along the M62 yesterday for 40 minutes. I saw no Discovery's without extra towing mirrors, and 2 Mondeo's. As a runner up I saw 1 Vauxhall Insignia estate with out towing mirrors.
How much more extensive does my research have to be? Man with no D3 anymore, but cant leave the forum....how sad.
