[For Sale] Discovery 3 Prospeed roof rack + 2 18w LED spotla

As the title says, this listing is for the older style Prospeed roof rack with the wind deflector. It will come with 2x 18w LED spotlamps attached but will not include wiring harness, though all the components can be sourced from Halfords (or any good motor retailer) etc fairly cheaply.

The roof rack has been on my car for about 8 months. It has never been used to carry anything (hence the sale) but has taken a few trips round off road courses so has a few scratches from overhanging twigs etc. Will come with all fittings.

£500 collected from York(I think you'd agree it's a bit too large to post... Wink )

Do you know if this would fit an HSE with the antenna on the roof and glass roof ?
Or is it just the mesh floor that determines that?

Thanks.
Nick.

I believe this will fit the glass roof, as it is held in place by the rails and doesn't touch the roof itself except at the very front of the rack.
As the rack does not have a center support, I believe it should accommodate any aerial that runs down the center of the roof, though it may be better to ask one of the forum's more experienced members than take my word for it :-p

Doh, want , don't need , want , don't need , want , ...need , want , need Shocked

Is this what is known as the quest rack, I have seen some pics of other prospeed racks with the word quest above the drivers door in the cowling.

Did you have a ladder with it or not bother?

Thanks.

This is not the 'quest' rack... I know Prospeed have updated the rack recently, maybe 'quest' is the new name they've branded it...

I do have a ladder that I got from the fleabay for around £60. I never used the rack for carrying, but the ladder does make it a lot easier to clean my roof, so I'd hazard a guess that a ladder would make packing the rack a lot easier as well Wink

I've attached a picture of the rack from the back while it was still on the car... hopefully this'll help with the antenna conundrum Smile

There were two versions, glass roof and non-glass roof version. The roof bulges upwards just behind the front roof window and the glass roof version has more space under the relevant crossbar to give room for the bulge. This is what I was told from Prospeed when I considered buying a second hand one that would not fit my vehicle.

Thanks very much for the info, Sod's law the rack I want turns up just down the road from me and it won't fit Sad Big Cry

r4ff,

Looks like it a no go, which is a shame as I would have been over in a shot had I known it would have fitted, if nothing else, it has at least stopped me being ignored for at least the entire bank holiday period by SWMBO Laughing as she really wouldn't have understood my requirement for a roofrack Rolling with laughter

All the best with the sale Thumbs Up

Don't agree, it will fit.

The GPS antenna in question is where the rubber bung is in your roof, as for glass non glass roof versions, the ideal for a glass roof is to have the mesh floor, acts as a tray but let's light through, the one you have is designed to be used with the additional composite floor, this would obviously block the light on a glass roof, but without one it will work.

The other option was for a sun roof non sunroof version, the one you have would not allow a sunroof to be opened Thumbs Up

Ladder on the back door makes getting on the roof a doddle - I've not used mine for stuff yet, but have used it as a platform for taking some photographs only this week Thumbs Up

Beanie , thanks for the info Thumbs Up now you are making my head hurt Laughing

So , in theory , I could fit this no problem , no contact with the full glass roof , but it would eliminate sunroof function, also I could if I wanted , add the composite floor .
The only negative being no view/light through the glass roof?

I assume the composite roof sits on top of the lower level frame work , and by composite , what are we talking about material wise.
Just wondering if I could just buy a sheet of polypropylene and make the floor from that.

Cheers

Nick.

Windowlicker: I'm thinking the composite will be like some type of ABS plastic. and yes it sits on the lower frame, there are brackets for attaching it.

The rails on the rack are slightly curved, I think it's a strength thing. any floor you want to make will have to take this into account.
