Accident - drive off

Ok guys, bit of a funny one but help needed.

Parked in EuroDisney car park today. Came back to find the car next to me had opened door and smashed all the passengers door on mine. During the time taking photos and getting security the french woman driver returned. A bit of fussing in french, suddenly she couldn't speak English etc etc. Getting into her car her son again bashed the door against mine! Not happy but witnessed by security.

She then drove off with giving details etc, I got her number. The local security advised going to police which we did but due to no English speaker tonight I have been advised to return in the morning.

I think dent master of the like would be a couple of hundred pounds to sort out.

The question is, should I report or just forget, I have got her number.

Thoughts please and also what about my insurance?

Is it worth the hassle to pursue?

If not too far out of your way then I'd report to plod/gendarme in the morning in case you decide to make an insurance claim but, as Del says, pursuing beyond that is likely to cost more than it is worth.

My thoughts and insurance implications. But Disney being Disney it's all recorded, I have a gut feeling this might go sour as all of a sudden no one in Disney could speak English!

I'd argue that a if they don't sort it then a call to the Daily Mail editorial number about your "horrific car park incident at EuroDisney" with some nice smashed up car photos will be enough for them to resolve it pronto.

That's Censored annoying.

My guess it that they were Parisians. It's seen as normal driving behaviour in Paris to use bumpers to bump cars when parking and smashing doors into other doors. Even with expensive cars.

Dentmaster type outfit might not be as expensive as you think.

If you pursue it in France, it almost a given that you'll have a huge amount of time consuming hassle, stress and blood boiling.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

If this was the UK I'd give a mouthful land suggest they pay.

But not speaking french I just don't want a counter claim. I spend a lot of time here and don't want future bother. It is hardly worth the calls as opposed to the repair costs.

My internal voice is telling me to report and do nothing more. That way it can't come back and bite me in the backside (wanted to put derrière but couldn't spell that).

you should have said.....merde tete ! many times ,beyond that my French goes downhill , I think everyone should know a few swear words in a few languages for such testing times , seriously though id go to the gendarme in morning and give it a try you might be pleasantly surprised by their help but I doubt youll get too far unfortunately , id be raging so I hope you can sort something out , enjoy the rollercoasters in the mean time Thumbs Up

Report to the French police before she does with a different story! Whether they like it or not you are all in this EU thinngy and it should make no difference to where it takes place.

I would report it , if only to get some sort of report / crime number, I bet you your insurance company will ask for it. Best to cover all the angles in my humble opinion Thumbs Up

I think that genuine supporters of this forum would be happy to kick the c Censored p out of the next French registered car we encounter. Or a Renault as Frenchies are rare in Barnsley.

Would I pursue....YES
Report it to Police....YES
Claim on Insurance....Maybe....depends on how much to fix & your insurance excess....
the excess use penalises you on your next renewal despite how many free knocks you have
Claiming from Eurodisney......wouldnt bother as I doubt if they take any responsibility....& it clearly wasnt thier fault.
Not wanting to speak or feigning no English....in my limited experience of being in France...quite usual they dont give a a Censored ....if they can use this as a tool to act daft or escape...they will (sorry to any French guys on here...but thats what my exoerience is)

Examples:

I had my daughters FL2 "kicked" with a Ski boot in the car park to French alps Avoriaz....the car driver next door to me was very clearly the culprit as where he had parked he was resticted on getting out so kicked the FL2 door to vent his anger.

On loading onto a Stena line ferry from Belfast to here...the guy guiding me into the space he thought I could get into made a mistake....witnessed by two people....the guy ran off somewhere else onthe ferry...wouldnt give his name....I complained...they fixed my vehicle....when you are being guided by ships loading crew they take on the responsibility

Three week journey accross Europe in 2013....the XK untouched...right until the ferry port stayover in Calais....some Censored damaged the rear wheel arch...& it might not have been intended but wasnt accidental...jusy very careless...was it a Frenchman.....possibly not ...but the hotel (Novotel)....wouldnt even listen to me just pointed to thier notice & shrugged thier shoulders....
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Would I pursue....YES
Report it to Police....YES
Claim on Insurance....No if its under £200

You need to report it or people like this will just keep doing it and not give a hoot.

There is alway the chance they have been reported before, if you don't report it you might find that this comes back to bite you at a later date.
