Very true. I guess I'd also be worried about getting a puncture before a new wheel is purchased.

I'll vouch for Ray's kit. My car has the wheel cover and a new LR external winch VRN plate thanks to his skill with the metal plate. Top quality. Always recommended.

Yes. But be aware that Ray's lovely plate probably won't be if someone tries to nick the wheel and damages it in the process.
Many years ago, SWMBO had a Pug 205 1.9 GTI. Had lovely big alloys and the spare one was slung under the back, supported by a bit of coat-hanger wire. After 2 of them had been nicked (almost 500 quid a time for alloy and tyre) and claimed on her company insurance, we fitted a sturdy lock/chain intended for protecting motorbikes. The insurance company told us that as this wasn't a standard fitting, the lock/chain wouldn't be covered if someone stole the wheel again!
As an aside, the chain worked - theft attempt #3 was foiled with just the coat-hanger being cut through...2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)
