Odd code on mileometer display and battery drain
Good morning all,
Following an unfortunate accident in my D3 at the beginning of the year and since it's been back from crash repair, i've had a permanent code on the mileometer and now, three weeks later, suffering from battery drain, having to jump start every couple of days. Spoke to main dealer who said I'd have to bring it in to check. I want to know if this is a result of improper crash repair or a genuine new fault before doing this. Can anyone help decipher the attached photo? It's on the display all the time when the engine is off, whether the key is in or not. Thank you.

I would expect other issues too. Do you have any? Does the car actually go to sleep? Nothing should be still displayed after a few minutes. If you don't mind where was the damage and what was replaced. They have probably botched the repair and fixed it by removing the bits that caused the problems.
You really need to get someone local who can look the car over because it may be unsafe to drive.
Also have to taken this up with the repairers?
Was it an insurance job, they should help negotiate any issues. There is probably an ombudsman for this type of thing if it gets hairy. Also worth dropping into Citizens Advice Bureau - think you might have more of an issue than a stuck IP - it could be crap on the PCB and it sort of look like a service indicator but it may be standard code for telling when odometers don't match with the other mileage readings in the car. Sorry to be more useful but a few more answers will probably bring some others to the question.
Cheers,
Al

If you hold the trip button down, and switch the ignition on, it displays a similar code. I wonder if the button is stuck, or the IPC has been damagedMy D3 Build Thread

Thanks for your replies, well I disconnected the battery overnight and charged it, and now the code has gone. Left the car on the drive for 24 hours and still a battery drain from somewhere as couldn't start again without a jump, but no code anymore! Everything else is running absolutely fine on the car. I have spoken to the crash repair garage, it was a national chain and they are attempting to interpret the code. In the meantime, going to get the battery checked out. Alternator seems fine, plenty of charge going in to battery on idle. Watch this space?!

On engine idle there's over 14v across the battery?

I suspect the cars computers are not shutting down, that will flatten a battery overnight. Suggest repairer should also supply a new battery as well, as they do not like being deep discharged.

You need to do a parasitic drain check.
