Air dryer

Hi all , glad I found this site Smile
I have an o6 disco 130000 kms , got the old normal height selected message as I got home last night but this morn she would not raise the air bags . All bags fine , compressor starts and cuts out again after 5 seconds or so . I removed cover from compressor and the top pipe was dangling loose . Problem is I reinserted pipe and started jeep and compressor ran for about 30 seconds then stopped and I've found it's still leaking a little out around the pipe , does anyone know exactly what should be on the connection where it's inserted to the front cover as I may have been missing some bits ?? What I had was : firstly rubber o ring then a plastic washer followed by brass connection with silver one that slides in over brass one to squeeze the pipe . Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks in advance Smile

Hi twin27 & welcome to the site,
My leak came from the blue connector( larger of the 2 fittings). I don't think there's any point in trying to fit back in as these are like a smaller version of a plumbers hep so speed fit. If the grabs AREN'T catching then it's banjaxed. I was told to geta new compressor @ £450+ but found a website Landyair.com where they sell new dryer covers which are more robust & have stainless steel fittings rather than brass. The fellas name is Andy & he's very helpfull. New one costs £46 odd . Hopefully there isn't any further damage to compressor but at that price it's worth a punt.

No, no need to remove it. It's a bit more fiddly in place but certainly very doable. I jacked mine up to give me a bit more space below. Undo the bottom cover & you'll see the dryer cover with the 6 hex nuts, undo these, the top one is tricky to get at but if you unplug the 2 electrical fittings & pull the valve block out off the way , that'll give you room. Careful, there might be a bit of air in the comp, just a puff or hiss. The 2 pipes should come out when you depress the outer collar on them towards the the cover & pull in the opposite direction away from you. Then with the new part just repeat the process in opposite. This has worked for me but may not suit everyone. Hopes this helps.

well the dryer cover is on order but now ive been thinking and since the orange pipe kept being blown off I was thinking is it been blown off because the exhaust valve is not releasing Question ive listened today and I cannot hear it releasing air so wondering if this could be the underlying problem . if so can the valve be cleaned or lubed or do I have to get a complete new compressor Thumbs Up

Not sure if these can be cleaned or if they can be bought separately. Either way, it can do harm giving it a go. If they're banjaxed then they're as good as gone.
