Reversing / rear view mirror camera !! |
|
Guys ,
Your opinion on, rear view mirror, reversing cameras ?
Are they any good ? My local guy says he will fit one with a tailgate camera for about £200.
he wont touch sat nav based ones and says they are problematic and very expensive ??
Your thoughts chaps
Regards
Mark

Hi Mark,
Are they good? I don't turn my head any more when reversing.
I don't know current prices but if you van handle a screwdriver, you can install a gvif and camera yourself and it will set you back somewhere around the same amount. Image will then be displayed on the satnav screen.
Each to his own but I wouldn't want to have an extra screen in there somewhere. The gvif route is tidy and looks OEM. I never have ANY problems with it.

Camera in the mirror is a nice gadget but so small as to be not nearly as useful as a full satnav size screen. Then I might only be saying that due to being old and having less than perfect eyesight ! My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

GVIF is a little box which fits under the passanger seat, it uses a camera which replaces a rear number plate light. Once all connected up it sends a image that is shown on your satnav screen and will work on any D3 with satnav, great product wouldn't be without it Transit Custom LWB

Gvif
It can be fitted on any model up to D4.
Mines been in use 2 years now without any problems and with a £9.99 rev camera.
Show your installer the enclosed, give him £25 (if you don't fancy it yourself) and tell him to get on with it, you'll not regret it, best mod without a doubt you can do on a D3
http://media.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/u...n_v1_2.pdf It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
