Smartish Key

I recently used the spare key for my 2013 D4 as I had misplaced my main key. Only after a few days of driving about did I find my main key in the door pocket and in the couple of days it had sat there I had walked away and locked the doors on countless occasions. Not once had the car complained about a key being still inside suggesting the system can be flummoxed by the use of two keys. Glad no one broke in for my lose change as they could have had the whole car.....

The system should work to the last relevant key signal .....there is an inference in topix that the motor wont start on the key that did't open the vehicle so if they smashed a window and tried to start it they should have to carry out a certain security procedure before it would start. Smile

I wonder if that means if someone breaks the window and takes the key they can't just disarm the alarm and drive off. I was under the impression it wouldn't lock if it detected a key so worth noting for those who carry around his and hers keys.

It should work so that if they break in and the try to use the key that you left in the vehicle ...then to disarm the alarm status they are required to carry out a security procedure before anything else can happen.

On mine, I can leave a Fob in the door pocket, have the other Fob in my hand, lock it using the Door Button, walk away, but I cannot open the door unless I have the Fob in my hand, so the Fob in the door pocket will not give me access, I need the one in my hand.
