No it's a con. Autotrader have got a lot better at filtering them out these days but it used to be flooded by them.
Email the guy and he'll undoubtedly insist first to get cash over buys vehicle. No time for viewings or deposit.
Although interestingly a friend of mines Son recently got a cracking deal on a 3 month old Fiesta ST for only £7,950 after the dealer put the price in wrong on their website. My friend (a lawyer) and his Son printed it out, put a deposit of £250 on through their website, went into dealer and after much huffing and a few hours of phonecalls the dealer conceded they had to sell it to him at the advertised price, despite the fact it was out on the forecourt for £17,950.

Good to see a dealer on the wrong end of a deal.
However as a lawyer I am sure he knew that he had no legal standing in this matter.

I am sure I read recently no retailer instore or online has to honour a price if its a mistake they may choose to but dont have to. The big out fits often get it wrong and dont honour the price. Remind me not to take deposits on my website. D4

I had thought that anyone advertising an item for sale (priced or not) was inviting you to trade, and could withdraw if they had made a mistake.
However, after taking a deposit against an advertised price then a contract had effectively been formed?

Any motor trade advert whether it's Autotrader or Ebay which shows an email through the picture is a scam....
Never respond and report the advert to the publication....the number that these filter before publication is astronomical....damn scourge!

I've never understood why these scammers don't put a price in closer to its real value?
Under pricing just screams scam.

What a horrible slimy pair, I hope he makes a mistake one day and the same or worse happens to him, sums these kind of people up perfectly, low life scum bags who no doubt rip the @rse out of the legal aid system as well! I would have told him to F off, but even trying it on says it all!

I'm having difficulty believing this story personally. I agree with other comments that have been posted here regarding this too. Obvious mistake in the advert. When I advertised my G4 on Autotrader recently, there was a typo and it went in at £12995 instead of £21995. I had a couple of calls about it surprisingly and no-one tried to insist I sold the car at the lower price. Choice between saving face and losing £10k and the dealer with the Fiesta went for losing the £10k? ......Sceptic? Me? Never! My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

The price advertised is an "invitation to treat" when buying you then make an offer which thre reailer can accept or reject, if the dealer accpted the £250 then they prob had to honour the deal. Club Narpy Torch
