Just trying to find if this is a usuall D3 thing, when I lift off the acc pedal and allow the car to freewheel at low(ish) speeds the auto box seems to drop into neutral, this is ok but I have to very gently ease back onto the throttle to avoid a thump as power it taken back up, it's a bit like the classic RR used to do when going from drive to reverse.
Is this usuall or do I need to start saving??
It's just a pain when driving in slow moving traffic.

It will drop out of lock (Or partial lock) if the speed is low. But it shouldn't thump particularly.
First thing to try is to reset the transfer box clutches and the gear box adaptations - MSV2 will do it. Mark.

Mine is in the stealers tomorrow for a suspect rear diff, software updates no good. Recalibration no good. Mine is ok when cold but after 5 mins I get a thump when it changes gear, especially in slow traffic or at traffic lights. .

Hi Geoff
If this latest visit fails, can you let me know when you are around next to try the software fix, it looks like it's getting worse and on the last service the rear diff oil was contaminated with metal. It looks like it might be mechanical but will find out later today.
Cheers,
Gary

this is exactly the same problem that I am now getting...its fine under load, fine when flooring it..
I've found that its worse in traffic and in manual mode, take my feet off everything and put it into 1st, let the car get moving and push it into 2nd and I always get the 'thud'

Flack did a gearbox reset last time when he was over but I'm not sure if we did the calibration and/or software flash, hopefully this will all be possible on the new Nanocom?

After a visit to see Wiggs this morning, he applied Geoffs 'magic' file, and all I can say is WOW!
I got the box flushed a few months ago by Geoff and that made an improvement, but with this new update it's amazingly smooth. No more thuds, no clunks! No idea how it's worked but it's made such a difference.
