Disco 3 issues expected or not? |
|
Ok so I bought an 08 Disco GS in Sept 12, 30K on the clock.
Current milage 73K, issues so far:
Front brake calipers replaced
Auto hand brake sensor, several times until recalibrated
Clutch replaced
Steering rods replaced (too much play on ball joints)
Front wheel bearings
Brake discs and pads all round
Today, whilst coming down the A3 at 70mph I get a HDC error, car slows down and suspension lowers. Pull over turn ignition off, waited couple of minutes, restarted and error clears.
Have I bought a pup or is this expected on a car of this age/milage?
Do I give it up and buy a Defender or Landcruiser?

I'd say nothing too unusual for a 5/6 year old car with 73k on the clock - certainly far from a pup. Discs, pads and, arguably, bearings and steering rods could all be put down to wear and tear on a 2.6t (ish) vehicle. Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE
Previously:
TD5 Defender 110 CSW (230k miles)
300TDi Disco 1 (289k)
4 RR Classics (300-350k each, 2 manual, 2 auto)
110 V8 CSW (220k)
S3 109 hi cap pickup (ex RN)
S2A 88 Safari SW with lpg conversion (bloody lethal)

Just with land cruisers you worry about mileage when it exceeds 500k
Most of the bits replaced are all service items apart from the calipers I'd expect when to last much longer MY14 post man pat van
70series land cruiser
1947 willys jeep
Hobby 670 motor home
And lots of other stuff in my shed, on my driveway or abandoned in the village
Several VW T5's
Mitsubishi outlander
And a Suzuki X90... Only drive that at night
