Sorry but FBH again again and again
Has anyone, can you, remove fuel supply to the fbh and attach a gravity fed supply just to test the fbh to see if it's a fuel lift problem or an actual fbh problem?
Have cleared all faults and fitted a Bell controller but still refuses to run despite priming etc.

Sounds like your glow plug may be shot.

I had a failed fuel pump on mine. I disconnected the fuel line from the fbh and put it in an empty plastic water bottle then did a 60 second fuel prime twice......no fuel.
The pump is attached to a cross member underneath. Easy to change but was about £80 for the pump. Bit much from a poxsey inline pump but it's not a standard 12v signal one so no choice.
Once changed and after about 10 goes it fired in a cloud of smoke.
I take it you can hear the pump ticking under the car when it's priming so you know you have power to it? Mine ticked away quite merrily but did sweet all

Not saying you can't do a gravity feed, but the FBH knows if the pump is connected (or at least if the wiring is open/short) so I'd surprised if it worked.
If you can, the fuel pump delivery test from the Thermotest software is an easier, and more reliable check.

Did try a priming sequence with delivery pipe off the fbh - result was a about half a squirt and a lot of bubbles. Tried to help it along with a hand pump connected to the end but not a lot of joy. My idea was to leave the pump connected, disconnect delivery pipe and connect a Sealey gadget for motorbikes - 1 litre container with bottom exit including shut off tap and just try a start on it to narrow down to whether it's the actual fbh or fuel supply.

With a new pump, I got a nice little squirt with every pump. You could have a block in the fuel line. It's very narrow gauge. The pump is a one way valve too so you need to disconnect the line at the pump and blow a bit of compressed air down it.
My only thoughts with a gravity fed system is you could over fuel it as the flow would be constant rather than metered dose. I'm no expert so could be wrong.

Apparently the pump meters the fuel so idea is a no goer. Looks like will need to take off pipe after pump and blow through with compressed air and remove pump and flush through with engine cleaner or similar and maybe tap it about a bit to wake it up if that fails to deliver fuel hit it with a 4 lb lump hammer!!!!
While I'm on anyone got any ideas on keeping small rodents - mice - out of engine bays. Getting slightly fed up of seeing parts of under bonnet stuff being chewed. Couple of weeks ago, a day after MOTing the chiefs I10 the washers failed to deliver water and found the pesky things had chewed through the delivery pipe between wing and bonnet area!!!

Not sure on keeping the mice out of the engine bay per se but when I had a problem with them in the garage - mainly after fishing gear - I bought two traps for £5 from Screwfix.
Baited with bird peanuts and got one a day on average for a week - no more worries since. They're reasonably humane - strong spring / quick trigger action.I see no ships........

Hopefully the picture will tell my story - fuel not getting through to the burner as the bloody mice have chewed into the union in the front wheel arch area- now it's war - they chewed through my fuel tank elbow in 2009 and have set about various other bits and pieces. What is it about disco 3 plastic and rubber why is it so palatable to these destructive monsters.
Have cut the offending piece out and connected with rubber fuel piping and clips. Cleared fault codes, primed the unit and pressed the remote button and hey presto we are off at second firing and runs like a good un with copious quantities of smoke - die you pesky critters.
Now need to fix up one of those acoustic mice thingy under the bonnet and plug into the mains when left to scare these bloody things away.
