Hitachi compressor seized
Hi all, looking for some recommendations really, my Hitachi compressor has completely seized.
Having stripped the unit down ive found the top bearing of the motor (brushes end) has fallen apart. Everything else looks good piston / barrel and it came apart quite nicely for its age.
However I am struggling to find any info on the motor itself, is this part repairable, or is this a new unit time. Cant find any bearings for sale just rebuild kits for seals and the dryer.
Are the dunlop replacements a waste of money?
thanks in advance

Try a post in the "Wanted Parts" section there's bound to be someone with an old one in the garage. If you're going to replace it go for the best you can afford as most of the aftermarket stuff is junk. Or, you could convert to the later AMK unit with the aid of a pipe fitting kit. Try and save the original Hitachi though if you can.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

My budget allows for a new genuine one but at £500+ on a 2006 D3 my thoughts are should I be spending that if a reasonable aftermarket is available.
It appears that there are not any that people recommend.
I'll post on the wanted area, thanks, and try get a working motor for a full rebuild.
