extended warrenty issues

Hi All

My 2010 disco 4 is currently in at land rover Derby for some work that is covered under the approved extended warranty I took out when the car became 3 years old. it needs a new fuel filter housing and a boot door latch both of which are covered under the warranty plan no problems

the issue I am having is I have a problem with the pre heater not always working and they have told me there is a code in the ecu for this but further diagnostic work / investigation is required to which they have said I am not covered for under the warranty. I have searched my warranty booklet and cannot find anywhere where it says diagnosis time is not covered I had a go at the poor chap on the desk and he told me he could do nothing and that I would need to speak to car plan as its a car plan warranty

I said that is not acceptable I never paid car plan I paid my money to land rover I have now got the service manager ringing me on Monday to discuss this

so my question is does anyone on here know if I should be covered or not I am a bit bemused as when they sold me this APPROVED WARRANTY THEY TOLD ME IT WAS LIKE FOR LIKE they said the only things that were not covered where in the booklet which I checked and there is no mention that diagnosis / investigating a problem is not covered surly this is all part of the job finding the fault

cheers shawn

If there is a fault which is covered under warranty then diagnosis is part of the process of identifying that fault I would think Confused

Keep your powder dry and let them explain on Monday ...if they can't clarify then maybe contact Pete@LandRover in the customer services section of the forum and see if he can "assist" Smile

I share you pain Shawn....

I booked my '09 D3 in for a service last October and advised of two items which had already been attended to three months earlier under warranty - rear parking sensors and EPB fault warning (although it was working fine) - car has full LR Approved Warranty untilAugust 2015.

the dealership refused to do ANY diagnostic work until I had authorised a preliminary £450 for diagnostic work. I refused to do this and took up the matter with LR CS (unsuccessfully - Big Cry ).

To me it is there in black and white - electrical faults are covered, so why should we have to pre-pay for diagnostic work? Partiicularly as on the first page of the Warranty book which comes with the policy it states in bold that 'This Warranty is provided by Land Rover (the Company).

That's interesting as I am just taking it out on both my D4's and my dealer has said it covers everything except wear and tear.no mention of Car Plan under Insurer.

I told everyone in another thread that the LR Extended warranty has nothing to do with LR, but others seem to know better and prefer to waste money because of a name which in fact has nothing to do whatsoever with the said warranty Whistle

Check out this thread my post is in the middle http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic107900.html

Check out wear and tear and all the other items & compare to say Warranty Direct Luxury care which is still much cheaper, I think you will find there are much better products out there for less of a rip off price by misleading people with a 'front name', well I guess that is a bit harsh because if you read the wording it clearly states who is covering the insurance. But if a word or two even on the front Whistle makes you feel better and you have money to give away, go for it, but don't come whining later Laughing

Most major warranty companies use a direct computer link to the dealers and everything is done electronically and efficiently.

And who is Warranty Direct a front name for DT Whistle ....Cardif Pinnacle ...who are a front name for BNP Paribas Cardif.

Having had dealings with WD and LR extended warranty I know who I would deal with again Smile

Well you were wise to move over to WD after you experience, well done Thumbs Up

My point is don't pay extra just for a name, you are being had over and LR customers are ripe for that, shop around and make your decision on fact not a name, check the wear and tear as I said and perhaps the MOT fail cover max, but don't whinge when it goes wrong, it's all written down in black and white and a splash of green on some Whistle , you are meant to read it all, they don't just print it for looks or to make you feel 'secure' seeing a name and logo and just signing up Whistle do they? Very Happy

Have to say that whilst LR Approved is far from perfect, (as I indicated above), I am with DG on this one. With the exception of the diagnostic work that I referred to above, thus far LRA has covered everything else including items such as bushes etc which I would have thought were excluded under 'fair wear and tear'.

The two dealerships I have dealt with (albeit very different experiences) also liaise with LRA via the 'phone and, in at least one case, I have heard the service manager arguing my case (quite forcefully) over the 'phone with the warranty company. I know I'll get my premium back (probably twice over Rolling Eyes ) and, as others have said elsewhere, it was purchased primarily in case of a major issue.

Why certainly (and apologies for poor quality but the machine with photoshop on it is 'playing up'. Relevenat line (to me) is at the foot of the page. Elsewhere in the booklet it refers to administrators of the scheme. I was assured by the dealership from whom I bought the car and warranty that this was a LR product and, ultimately, if there were any issues they would be dealt with by LR:

So in other words they just sell it, but have nothing else to do with it, only crystal clear when you read the whole document hmmm Rolling Eyes

For info the same warranty is a lot cheaper here by the same company but then it doesn't say LR on the booklet Wink http://www.csmaclub.co.uk/newsandoffers/carcareplan

Quite the opposite. They sell it, and engage administrators to run it on their behalf but, if it all goes ti*s up, then ultimately my contract is with LandRover. Thus far, with one exception, that has proven to be my experience.

The Approved Used Warranty is "provided by Land Rover":
http://www.landrover.com/content/gb/en/pdf...ndbook.pdf

It also says "Land Rover Approved Warranty Administration is authorised by Jaguar Land Rover Limited to act as their agents in relation to this Warranty. They manage and administer all Land Rover Approved Warranty Services".

But Car Care Plan is that administrator:
"Car Care Plan Ltd trading as Land Rover Approved Warranty Administration,
Jubilee House, 5 Mid Point Business Park, Thornbury, West Yorkshire BD3 7AG."
