Rapidly flashing indicator relay problem
Morning
My right hand turn signal relay is clicking (the sound you hear from inside the car) much more rapidly than my left turn signal. I suspected that it was because one of the bulbs was blown, but on further inspection I see that:
A. The indicator lights outside actually aren't flashing in time with the clicking from the relay. They look completely normal!
B. All of the 3 bulbs are illuminating correctly (front corner, under wing mirror and rear corner)
Any idea what might cause this to happen? Thanks!

I thought that it flashed quicker because of a change in resistance of the electrical circuit, i. e. when a lamp blows. Perhaps you should check for dodgy or dirty connections?

It has recently occurred to me that the 'relay clicking sound' is actually a speaker in the dash rather than a relay clicking! I've recently fitted d4 lights in mine and before the resistors arrived I had rapid flash.
Have you changed any bulbs recently? Did you check the wing repeater?26 and on the 4th LR..

Yep, the relay noise is fake and it you have a competing warning bong the synthetic indicator noise can actually stop whilst the indicators themselves keep going.

I had exactly the same problem immediately after fitting LED reversing lamps (which are brilliant - in both senses of the word !).
In the end I took off the rear light cluster, cleaned everything there is to clean, reassembled everything and all is well. Precisely what I fixed is not entirely clear to me!

Awesome advice, thanks all, I will have to wait till next weekend to test out my bulbs and connections.

Morning. I managed to remove the rear, wing and front indicator bulbs and test their resistances this morning. All are precisely 2.8 ohms.
Interestingly, firing up the indicator whilst the front light cluster was disconnected produced the same rapid clicking indicator noise as when connected. Does that make sense?2005 Discovery 3 2.7 TDV6 HSE (Auto)

The 2.8 ohms, is that the resistance of each lamp measuring the filament with them removed from the holders? What if you measured the contacts at the rear so you are checking the lampholder and the lamp?
Bit of a faff but what if you did a bit of trial-and-error by removing a light cluster, then plug in the same one but from the other side of the car? This would prove the light clusters etc.

I finally managed to get some troubleshooting done. Swapping the rear clusters (left and right) and testing proved that therein lay the problem, so I checked more into the wattage of the bulbs etc. and found that the ex-owner had replaced the 21w indicator bulb with a 5w which I promptly replaced with an Osram 21w bulb and all was perfect!2005 Discovery 3 2.7 TDV6 HSE (Auto)
