LR3 petrol fuel sender problems
Hi All,
I am new to this forum and have been an avid Landy fan for some years. I presently own a LR3 2008 4ltr petrol version which has been a challenge to keep going living in a hot desert environment.
Can anyone advise if it is possible to obtain both fuel senders without purchasing a complete new fuel tank. The local LR agent in the Middle East advises the senders cannot be change and I need to purchase the complete ensemble!! Ouch!http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/images/smiles/icon_bigcry.gif
Thanks for any guidance .

Somewhat concerned with using this provider as its appears to be Russian? Have you ever purchased items on line through this company before??
cheers

Re: LR3 petrol fuel sender problems
i had a similar problem with my disco 3 diesel.the sender unit can be broken down and a spurios pump fitted for a fraction of the cost of a new sender unit.take the pump to a good motor factors and they can cross reference the part numbers.peugeot do the same pump for the 2.7 diesel discovery.so id say they do it for petrol as well.hope this helps.

Thanks Irish, I will keep this in mind.
However the story of the sender unit and fuel reading has changed, after 3 weeks of totally not working or so the ruddy thing has periodically come to life?? That is both analogue and digital ! I can drive along and it shows actual and then it drops like a stone.
Rather than believing the unit has totally failed as the Land rover dealer advised when he plugged her in, I am thinking it could be a wire issue.
Just have to get the old girl up in the air and start striping and try checking connections whilst its cool.

have the exact same issue with my LR3 i just bought 100 K Kms 2nd hand.
after 1000Kms, the gauge went to reserve,
tried to have the mechanics change the senders, but he did not manage to change them..., said he could not reach them....
will check now the cable, i have heard it goes behind the right front wheel
any useful experience out there ?
