i use itunes to burn all of my mp3 data cd's as well as regular cd's, and both work fine in my 2005 lr3 se.
a note about the ipod + aux input solution.. if you're a real audiophile and you want your music to sound as crisp as possible, the cd player is a better way to go than running an ipod through your aux input. the aux input is having to amplify the sound from your ipod, therefore it becomes distorted a small amount. if you said the cd player gave you 100% quality sound then i would put the aux input at 95%. to most you won't notice the difference, but being a big fan of music, musician, and audiophile, you can tell a bit of distortion is there if you really pay attention. just one man's opinion tho!

I use both, I have a an Iriver player with a 40 gig h/disk and I use the aux socket, the sound quality is first class.
When I use a mp3 cd I burn all my tracks with Accustica, this app lets you mix up all the tracks and then burns them in that order. You can't do this in Nero.
