Immobiliser not deactivating |
|
I have a 2007 discovery 3 which will not start. Engine turns over but will not start. I think that the immobiliser is not being disarmed. I have tried both keys with no success. Tried locking the car walking away for 5 minutes and then starting all to no avail. Help please?

If immobiliser is not disarmed the engine won't turn over.
Your problem will probably be fuel related. Any faults?
Could be the HPFP, or in tank pump, or even a clogged fuel filter. Dennis

Ideally you should get the fault codes read. That might help narrow things down. But...
1. Are you sure there's diesel in the tank? Don't rely on the gauge. It's not unheard of for the gauge to fail. Drop a jerry can of diesel into it to eliminate this probability.
2. There is a fuel bleed schraeder valve in the engine bay, somewhere between the aux battery box and the engine IIRC. You need to remove the cap and press the valve in, while someone turns the ignition on. This will cause the in tank pump to start pumping fuel and you should have a stream of fuel coming out of the valve. If you have air coming out or nothing, then you either have no fuel, the fuel filter is blocked, or the in tank pump is not working.
3. The HPFP drive belt (at the rear of the engine) or it's tensioner might have snapped, causing the HPFP to be inoperative. This belt is usually changed together with the timing belt. Dennis

Great news.
PS. did you replace the fuel filter or have any work done on the fuel system?
If not, it iss strange that you would need to bleed the fuel system if nothing was touched Dennis
