France Motorway Toll Charges |
|
We travelled down to south of France in August 2013 with our Bailey Caravan, I placed three bikes on top of the disco 4.
Well Stupid me when I got half way down France I realised that the toll machines where charging me lorry charges because when approaching the automated toll booth it scans your vehicle and makes judgement if you are a car, van, truck, etc. I got scanned as a truck and silly me paid what the toll booth said on the meter.
I found eventually that I should press for help button on the booth and the person at the other end sees that you are a car towing a caravan and adjust the toll fee accordingly.
Please do not get caught out like silly me.

you should get charged @ Class2 with a caravan - we have a caravan with a satellite dome. the height is higher than a D3/4 with bikes - do you know what class you were charged - I thought HGVs were class 4 Duncan

xyplex, if it's any consolation, I did exactly the same last year. I then put myself into the firing line by publishing (admitting) my folly in Practical Caravan magazine.
