Nice D4 Lukeis
I had 285/50/20 LTZs fitted to my old D4 (and previous D3).
I had no issues on the D3, but on the D4 I got rubbing on 'lock to lock'.
No big deal as it generally only happens when moving very slow ie parking
But decided to have lock stops fitted in the steering rack to remedy.

So a steering stop is basically just a rubber fitting behind the two front wheels? I assume cheap and easy but how limiting is it on your turning circle? I quite like the turning circle on th d4's!

It does limit your steering input.
For example if you were to turn into one of the UK's Supermarkets tight parking slots, you'd need two goes at it.
Whereas in a normal vehicle you're in with just the one steering input.
For me it was a small price worth paying.🏴

Thanks. Is there any reason why you didn't just opt for the 8mm spacers I've read other people used? I assume this means you get your full turning circle but unsure of the down side to this method?!

Resurrecting this thread since a couple of questions came up in another thread.
ronp: was these Stormers the ET53 or ET58 version? did you try spacers or have some opinion if they would remedy the problem?

Vs2: did you ever experience any rub with these tires with ET53 originals without lock stops?
Looks like this is the way to go.

I'm curious to see how I go on with my new rims -- this thread was helpful to me before I bought them (and so I want to add a bit incase it helps others).
I am fitting (this week) RRS rims LR044848 which look like this:
And have an offset of +47, a bore of 72.56, a width of 8.5, and a load rating of 950kg. I will be fitting 275/55/20 boots; probably Duratracs, though I may go for Haka 9s (die to the epic winters here!).... I wish I could fit 265/60/20s though -- hopefully an MT tyre will be available in this size soon.
I'll comment back here soon with info and photos how the above fits, but right now I want to mention the concern I had about load rating. Some LRs don't get loaded up much, but I do take mine out and about a lot and load up the roof rack often (and heavily), so the load rating was an issue. LR3 and LR4 rims are heavily rater at 940kg -- however, many RRS and FFRR rims are only 900kgs. I searched quite a bit to find rims that were as strong and the 044848 are rated to 950kgs. Just a thought for anyone who loads up a roof rack (noting that cornering with a higher centre of gravity will generate greater stress on the corners).
