EPB failure

Hi,

New to the forum and two weeks ago I bought a 2005 Disco 3 TDV6 S with 65k on the clock. I've had various Land Rovers over the years and also have a 1996 Disco 1 at present.

Today I parked up and applied the brake. It whirred as usual, then started screeching and clicking for about ten seconds before stopping, with the red warning light on the dash with a message on the display (no code). If I turn the ignition off and on and press the button down, the warning light goes off and the car can be driven.

Having done a search it would appear that the EPB motor is at fault, although there's various mention of needing new discs and pads. I've contacted the dealer and I'm just waiting for him to get back to me, but I would like to know what the main problem is.

Thanks in advance.[/code]

Probably needs stripping down and adjusting. The problem is, you don't know how long the previous owner has been using it like this. If you continue to use it and make it scream, the actuator will be knackered.

If you have bought it from a dealer, I would be getting it back to them asap, as the actuator is £££.

I've already been onto the dealer and he states he's going to speak to his mechanic and get back to me. I'd like to know what the issue is so I can can make sure a proper job is done. The dealer will be paying for it, not me.

Strip and clean as per the brake bible, if that doesn't fix it and still screeching, then try disco Mikey's EPB actuator fix Thumbs Up
