Blackvue Cameras

Hi all,

Just fitted my Blackvue DR 550 x 2 set up, but one small problem !!!!!!!!!!

I am unable to get the cameras to talk to my Nexus 7 tablet/android or my iPhone 4 via wifi through the Blackvue apps. I just get the same message 'unable to detect wifi connection' very frustrating. What am I doing wrong?????????????

You have to do a normal WiFi handshake first via your tablet wireless settings. Once it's on your list of established connections with the password saved you can connect through the app
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Not got a Nexus but on iPad you go into settings, wifi, turn on wifi and it will look for all available devices to connect to, just enter the BV password (key) and Bob's your uncle, passwords are usually case sensitive.

Hi all,

Thank you both for explaining what to do.

I have attempted both methods still no joy.

Okay where do I find the password you are both talking about, what is the BV PASSWORD(key) do I take it that this is my modem/router password or is it a Blackvue password, if so where do I find that????????????

Hope Steve's pm sorts it but I would think there should be a password in the BV documentation or on the unit itself.

Sorry for the hijack but I have a 330 that has a wifi type symbol lit up as it trundles along.

Does this mean I could connect via a iPad or phone?

The default password is no secret - it's in the public domain - try connecting to the SSID using blackvue (all lower case). Thumbs Up

Hi folks,

Well I am happy again, thanks to Woolmeister(steve)

He talked me through the set up and all is fine, it would appear that I was not keeping the Nexus close enough to the Blackvue and not giving them enough time to find and connect to each other.

What would we all do without this site. The time, the knowledge and information that members are willing to give each other I think is fantastic. Well done all and a special thanks to Steve.

You're very welcome, Billy B. Nice talking to you. Thumbs Up

I'm not sure how far away your D4 is parked from the house but the wireless range on these cameras will almost certainly not be as strong as your BT Home Hub.
