Cracks appeared on rear tyre
I have noticed that a lot of the tread blocks on the outside edge of one of my rear tyres have signs of cracking - picture below - is this normal or should it be replaced. Both rear tyres on my D4 are original and the D4 was purchased 28/3/11. Rear tyres are at 36psi and have been checked weekly since purchase.

Thats poor I would be annoyed if I saw that on one of my tyres at 5 years. Have a look at the date What make is it good for a year
Do you have the age of the tyre from he DOT codes, it is possible they have been around longer than the car
I'd want to replace them if it were me, but just wonder if there is any recourse with LR or the manufacturer if only 3 yrs old?Altox GSM FBH controller thread

They are 255/55/19 Pirelli Scorpion Zeros, according to the markings on the tyre this one was manufactured week 7 2011 and the opposite rear tyre week 6 2011.
Start with the dealer you bought from and see what response / support you get, drop an email to Pirelli customer services dept to ascertain the expected life of the tyre ?Altox GSM FBH controller thread

I had cracking on Scorpion Zeros, only a couple of years old, on the rear (D3). Can't recall exactly where but it was around the entire circumference.

I have just dumped 2 pirelli zeros that were dated oct 2012 gone out of shape. I have kumos on my landcruiser 7 years old they are now out of shape but no rot at all. I think they have stopped putting as much good stuff in to tyres.

pick up a lot of Mobility return cars, often cracks appear due to vehicle not being used often enough with the tyre/s being in direct sunlight for long periods of time.

I suppose it might match the latter of those 2 Character, it definitely does not get a lot of use (unfortunately nothing I can do about that) and sometimes will be in direct sunlight whilst parked.

Been to a couple of tyre dealers today and both said that the tyre was fine, as Character said, it is apparently quite usual for cars that do low mileages.
I was however advised that if the crack went the whole length of one tread block I should have it replaced.
