Ecu change for £3000? High voltage problem |

Hello,
Boy, am I having a lot of changes with my Disco3 2005 as you probably have seen before in the forum. Now yet an other one...
History
The battery did not get charged so the LR firm (leading in Sweden btw) changed the alternator. But after the change the first time I wanted to start it in the cold all warninglamps, satnav started to flash for a minute and everything goes back to normal again. This now happens every time I start it when the car is cold! Also the airbag light is on all the time. I get the C1A0017 error which is a high voltage error.
Problem
After reading here that there could be som problem with the alternator even if it is "new". I handed it over to the firm again and they said it is overcharging when cold. They said that this could happen with some alternators so they changed it again. But now they can not find the issue and everything leads to the ECU which they say probably have to be changed as the contacts looks corroded and green.
They say it could be around £3000 which is way to much for me! So I wonder if it would be easy to buy a ECU on ebay and change it yourself? Or if you guys have some other ideas on what the issue would be? Any ideas at all would help!

Oh, btw. They say it is the main engine ECU.

The main ECU does control how much charge the car needs and I have had issues with spike volts on the main ECU, but its not a £3000.00 job.. The new ECU in the UK is around the £900.00 mark and fitting it takes no more than 30 mins.
It will then have to be programmed to the car, tops should be no more than £1100.00.

Personally, I have never seen water ingress into the Engine ECU harness/connectors. First time for everything I guess, but have seen plenty of corroded terminals for the transfer case ECU.
Maybe worth double checking, just in case
If it is the Engine ECU, speak to Nick (TLO)
