Tailgate - Not Quite Unlatching |
|
For the past few weeks, the tailgate latch seems not to be quite unlatching when I press the button. It normally requires two shots before it fully releases. If I press once and pull the bottom half to open, it sticks.
Is this indicative of an imminent electronic failure?

I agree with Mikey... You'll find the end nipple on the cable release is about to fall off... Get it fixed now before it's too late and it snaps completely stopping the lower tailgate from opening at all...
Geoff on the site does reconditioned ones very reasonably!

Interesting. Mine's done this since new and I thought it was how it was supposed to work. Service is due next month so will mention it under warranty.
Edit: Oops - just read the OP again and it's about the bottom half of the tailgate, which only needs one push of the button on mine. It's the top half of mine that needs two squeezes of the handle to get it open. MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

I have to press the button (the one near the number plate) twice to get the TOP tailgate to open - "press one"- unlatches fine and then "press two"- releases so that it can be opened.......... is this a "safety feature" or do I need to investigate further? 2007 Base D3 - Buckingham Blue

Probably just coincidence but I had this looked at on my service in November. The fitters could not find a fault but the next day I had a new battery fitted as the existing was knackered (after two years) and since then, no problem. I know that will not compute but that's the facts.

Does anyone know for sure if one press or 2 is correct? - no a big deal really, I am just wondering if a repair will be needed soon! 2007 Base D3 - Buckingham Blue
