Tyre repair kit - any good?
I was surprised to see that these kits are still available - just wondering if they are safe and effective to use? I have always taken any tyre repairs to the local tyre dealers but maybe useful if stuck miles from anywhere.... anyone used one?

Used and seen them used a few times ...can be very effective and get you out of a hole but you wouldn't want to be pushing the tyre too hard tbh until you can get to a proper repair shop 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Crry one in the D3 and BMW 1200 GSA, used on friends car last weekend, found a bit hard to push the plug in guess should heve used some weak soapy water, but yes it worked good , its still in and tyre still up.
So +++++ for these Graham

I've used one several times, one thing to bear in mind officially they are for "offroad" use in this country. I've heard they are commonly used in Europe. Common in Australia, my brother has seen people stick 5-6 in one hole to get them home in Aus.
I plugged a few holes from screws/nails even on the front of a Volvo T5, never had any issues.
If you look on balanceweights.co.uk or tyrebaydirect you can buy the individual items quite cheaply and boxes of the strings.
There is a bit of a knack to using them but they will certainly get you out of trouble if you end up with a nail in your tyre.

Got one used one
Had to repair a tyre off-road, up a mountain in Spain last July. Plug is hard to push in but once in job done.
