Ok so I have done quite a bit of reading and failed to find the answer. Apologies if it is on here and we are going over old ground.
I am currently running a set of 4 19" 6 spoke hse wheels. I bought the car without a spare as it had been nicked with the spare wheel winch wire being cut. I was hoping to get a 5th and 6th 19" wheel as spares.
The D3 is mainly a Tarmac warrior and currently has a set of nearly new Michelin latitudes 255/55 R19 which are perfect for what I currently do in it. But I don't think they will be any good if I venture off the black stuff. Which I eventually hope to do.
19's are hard to come by at a reasonable price.
So is it possible and do people think feasible to get a set of 18's put a set of slightly more aggressive tyres on, say; atr, gg at or ltz and have one as a spare with uncle Rays wheel protector underneath. That way if I do ever get a puncture I can change out for the 18" while I get the 19" fixed and then have a set of off-road wheels for playing.
Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks in advance for the advice.
Si

As long as the diameter of the TYRE (not the wheel) is the same, it will be fine. Dennis

a 255/55x19 (standard tyre on a 19" D3 rim) has the same rolling radius as a 255/60x18 (standard tyre on a D3 18" rim), so you can throw one of those under as a spare.
FYI - the skinny steel spare is a 19" irrespective of the alloy road wheel size.

I've got a set of four slightly tatty but not too bad 18's - the five spoke version with just about legal ATR's on that you could have cheaply if you wanted to pick up from Herefordshire. Just pm me if interested.

Just picked up 4 x 18" with usable Pirelli ATRs , very happy . Lovely to meet Jum too.
Just waiting on TLO to see if he can supply spare wheel winch and will then be in contact with Uncle Ray to arrange delivery of a protector.
Couple of questions , James mentioned issues with locking wheel nuts and suggested replacing them for standard. Does anyone know where I can source a set; and secondly I presume a 19" wheel will fit a 18" RLD protector and not the other way around?
Thanks.

Get your wheel nuts from TLO along with your winch.
RLD spare wheel protector fits all sizes. Great piece of kit.
18" rims with Pirelli ATR's are my favourite combination.
