Central locking went nuts after power washing?

As above. Seems to have stopped now but during washing it had a mind of its own. Im hoping any fault will be covered by the extended warranty.

If you give your exact symptoms and where and how you were washing we may be able to help or set your mind at ease.

Karcher domestic power washer so not immensly powerful. I first noticed when washing the ns tail light. Thats not to say its the first time it happened. It was opening and closing randomly every 1 or 2 minutes. I came in for lunch and Im going back out to finish soon so ill leave the key in the house to see if that makes a difference.

If it is physically unlocking and then re-locking itself after say 30 seconds and you had your key on your person and you have an HSE and you were spraying the car then I would say relax. Thumbs Up

If the hazards flash and the car does not unlock, or if the lock and re-lock are very fast then perhaps some worry and some diagnostics is in order. Sad

I hope it is the former.

Did you wash under the bonnet at any time?
That's exactly what mine did after getting water behind the battery, there are some rather vulnerable connectors and ECU's behind there. Embarassed

Robbie, cheers. Yes to all the above thank goodness. Why's that then?

It's a 'feature' of the D4 HSE. Think of it as testing the capacitance plates located in the door handles; they may be calibrated to ignore rain, hail and snow but the mist produced by a power-washer seems to be enough like a hand to unlock the doors.

You can safely sit-back and relax.
