Alloy Wheel Refurb Cost
What's the going rate for an alloy wheel refurb these days?
Just had a quote from "The Wheel Specialist" in Fareham to refurb a set of 4 HSE 19"s and to strip, refurb, refit, and balance was £360 (free strip and refit during January ).
Anybody used them before? They do a lot of work for Guy Salmon LR Portsmouth, amongst other local dealerships.
Does this sound reasonable?

I know they are way too far away from you but........?
I've used them for two sets of wheels, numerous engine parts and 3 bike frames. I would used them without hesitation again - I really recommend them, and when I have the spare cash I intend to take my Disco there too..
Some think the price is too high - but that is a drive in - drive out price (wheels off, tires off, powder coat and all put back together and wheels rebalanced) in 24hrsSi

That's very true, yes, I forgot to add that. I'm quite happy to leave the wheels with them for a few days; I'm in no rush to get them turned around and don't necessarily require the 24h service they offer.
Good to hear they come highly recommended, though, Si. Thanks for the input, all.
From what I understand, they will chemically remove any existing coatings off the wheel, grind any rough bits off, rebuild any chips, and powder coat the entire rim inside and out before fitting the tyres back on and balancing them up.
It seems a bit pricey but I suppose you get what you pay for.

I had 4 x 18" se wheels chemically stripped, and then powder coated in gloss black.
The wheel specialist in burton on Trent did a fantastic job, I was able to leave my wheels with them for a couple of days or a week if necessary, and stressed that they did them as an as & when job at a time to suit them and negotiated a price of £298.
From point of dropping the wheels off and them contacting me to have them fitted all took less than 48hrs. They also have about 20-30 wheels powder coated in various colours enabling you to offer them up against the vehicle so you can choose the colour that best suits your vehicle.
Whilst it is not the cheapest price I was quoted, it was nice to have the choice of colours, and a speedy turnaround and a top quality job.

I used the wheel specialist in east kilbride and found them very good (apart from a point Ken mentioned about tyre fitting with the yellow dot by the valve!) cant remember the price.
Was that an on line quote or did you phone them, I got a far better deal by talking to them than the on line system.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I used The Wheel Specialists - Fareham to refurbish the wheels on my Evante in 2012.
I was pleased with every aspect of the job - I'll call you later.

After a glowing recommendation from Nigel (NJSS) - and a close inspection of Steve's (Boringoldgit) mucky powder coated wheels - I will be dropping my HSE rims down to The Wheel Specialists in Fareham tomorrow.
I'm picking them up next Thursday so will post photos once they're done.
All I need now is the "Silver Sparkle" paint code, Ken.
