LR fitted the radio into the top glove box on mine.
Have to drive round with the box open, but my CB's pretty heavy and it's stood up to it well.
Quick to get out too.2006 G4 Challenge Support Vehicle

I plan to fit mine too and i am wondering :
- A Where to fit the antenna (middle of the hood, right by the windscreen)
- B Where/how do you get the cable to go trough the firewall

Hi,
You will need to drill a 25mm hole in the rear RHS of the top glove box for the power & aerial cables.
Worth just feeling behind the top box from the lower one just to ensure all cables are clear! I'm sure you
know, the lower box will fully open to the floor if you squeeze the two side catches and push down.
Cheers, Richard.

Hi,
We were just doing a temporary install with some comercial radio's so picked up the power from the front Cig lighter socket. The aerial cable we ran down the front passenger footwell and along under the side trim to the rear and brought the cable out through the top rear tailgate to a VHF mag mount.
Not a lot of use for your permanant installation I'm afraid. The G4 power and aerial cables were run though an existing grommet on the drivers side to the engine bay and the coax then ran up the snorkel to the aerial mounted on the roofrack.
Good luck!

Keep in mind that XTC's "Drivers Side" probably is the right hand side of the car so may or may not be the same for us "Lefties" over here.Life is what you make it.

drivers side next to brake boost. brake fluid resevoir in foreground.
That's the one, though if you have a manual there'll be a pipe going through it for the clutch, you can still use it just be careful not the dislodge the pipeThe End

I did mine a bit differently. I tapped into the power feed in the rear accessory port, ran the antenna and power cable under the carpet behind the second row seats to the right side (my passenger side) and under the door sills (they pop off with a big flat bladed screwdriver, then up through a pre-made hole under the passenger seat. I then attached the little connector block for my Cobra [url=http://www.cobra.com/index.php?page=shop/flypage&product_id=5&id=175WX ST[/url] unit. The handset come up from under the seat when needed.
My antenna is mounted to a little angle bracket in the rear, but a better choice would be on the rear window like this: http://www.rfparts.com/diamond/k400.html and it looks like this when done nicely:

I have an amateur vhf/uhf radio. Like a CB but >45 Watts, and 144/440 MHz.
Radio in foot well
Remote head by ashtray
Antenna screwed onto hood
Ask any amateur radio shop: they will know how it's done

Have just fitted mine this afternoon - put it on the left of the steering wheel low down at knee level, seems OK for me.
