A newbe looking for info!! |
|
Hi,
I have just come over from the RRS forum as I am interested in buying another disco, having previously owned three over the years.
I have a question which has probably been asked many times before.
What are the main differences between the 3 and 4 (pros and cons).
Which one would you recommend and what spec.
My max would be £20k.
Do any forum members have one for sale that might meet my criteria.
Many thanks.

I've only owned Discovery 3's so people with more experience than me are better qualified, but I have driven several 4's.
The later ones have the 3 litre engine so are quicker, my 3 has been 'fiddled with' so I don't really notice the extra oomph! Being newer with probably less miles they are going to be generally tighter. The interior has been 'poshed' up to be closer to a FFRR.
I don't think 20k will get you a Disco 4 but I could be completely wrong on that front. But it will get you a minted Disco 3 so that's the avenue I would be going down.
But I'm a bit of an old fuddy duddy and think Land Rover have tried to turn the 4 into a seven seat FFRR, whilst binning it's working roots, and not forgetting the price hike to near FFRR prices. But Land Rover must be doing something right because they sell enough of em' around the world. Discovery 4 HSE

There are a few in the For Sale section at the moment. This looks to be the pick of them, with no offence to the other cars listed:
