Goodyear MT/Rs juddering!!!

anyone else had this with MT/Rs on full lock?
It feels (and from the state of the tread looks too) as if it's skipping sideways on the tread when large steering inputs are applied at low speeds. Stable and OK on the M/way and the tyre fitters did the tracking recently (but with Toyos on)
the problem's only manifested itself when I put the MT/Rs on for the bad weather.

I think I know what you mean, feels as if the tyres are "scrubbing" against the surface of the road. I always assumed it was just due to the open and aggressive block tread pattern.

BTW, on-road I always found my MTR's poor in wet and cold situations and on ice and compacted snow they were really not good at all. Great in the mud though Thumbs Up

Sounds like something was wrong when running the tyres previously...I've ran MTR's permanently on my G4 with no issues like that...
It sounds as if they've ovalled or been run with tracking out wearing the tread blocks unevenly.

Could be a sign that your suspension/steering is due an overhaul. The Toyos may have been a little more forgiving than the MT/Rs.

I had exactly those symptoms before I had my lower front wishbones, inner track rods and outer track rod ends replaced. Had that lot done and no problems since. Thumbs Up

What I was referring to was when the steering was on full lock for parking etc. Just the block tread pattern as it was more noticeable when the tread depth was higher.
Might not be the same as the op is experiencing. Nothing was wrong with my suspension etc.

May be unrelated, but when my transfer box was playing up it felt exactly like the OP describes....it felt,on full lock, like the treadblocks were slipping (I had already experienced a failed front diff, and it was a less extreme, but similar feeling)
As I had just changed to ATR's I put it down to the tread pattern behaving differently.....eventually I got the oil in the transfer box changed and the box ecu recalibrated, and it sorted it out.....
I have never run MTR's so can't comment on those, just another potential culprit, and a cheap fix Thumbs Up

It's a simple enough task and needn't be expensive, you just need the services of a forum member with a FaultMate - Geoff is trying to organise a day down at BOG's (Southampton) if you cam make it. Failing that, dealer shouldn't charge more than 1/2 hours labour. Thumbs Up
