Any help appreciated
I have a 2006 '55' plate discovery 2.7tdv6 hse with just over 102000 miles, when I got her 18 months ago on start up it was always a little noisey but drove spot on so just put it down to the nature of the car, but lately it has seemed to start with the noise and when left ticking over the noise is still there its a metallic sort of metal ticking/rattling noise in the back ground, my mate drove it to the garage last week for servicing and it lost power for a short time and then back to normal... I sadly don't have the history in my possession as it was miss placed when I lent the vehicle to a friend. So cambelt I assume is due? this is rele frustrating and just want it sorting, was wondering of anybody has had the same issue or has any idea as to what it could be, I have a video of it but can't upload videos on here only photos I think?
Thanks in advance, Mark

Hi mark ,
Best thing to do is take it to someone familiar with discos and get the faults read (a forum member round your way would be perfect), as loss of power could be a few things ,
Re: cambelt yes it does need to be done at 105k miles or 7 years , whichever comes first but as far a i know the belt would not cause loss of power but just go kapoot ,

Welcome to the forum!
The intermittent power could be an EGR problem if they have not been blanked. If they have not been blanked now is as a good a time as any to blank the wretched things.
The noise on start-up is indicative of poor or non-existent glow-plug afterglow function - very common for your age and millage. Glow plugs are prone to breakage on removal, which gives us all kittens and people spend a lot of time thinking about the technique and tooling required.
The rattle could be a number of things so it would be great if you could isolate if it is front or back of the engine.

Blanked.
As Robbie said, above.
Very easy. Don't waste time swapping them out or cleaning them. Your engine will now throw up a fault when you blank. Search for BAS blanking kit.PAGODA
