Winter charger
Evenin all,
Now i aint using the Disco daily i found that after standing for a week or so the edge was going off the battery , as expected really.
Now i know that there is the Ctek and others out there but for £30 and a bit of wire and couple of waterproof plugs i decided to hook it up to one of these to keep it topped up
doddle of a job to do , simply cut off existing plug on charger and extended the cord from the charger to the car and used theese plugs on either end
then i just ran some two core wire from the battery to the scuttle by the wipers and fitted same waterproof plug there, just tuck it out of site when not needed.
then i can run the wire from the charger "which will eventually be in a waterproof socket housing when i get one" to the car and plug her in,
then the charger just monitors and tops up as required
It seems to work fantastically allways plenty of life in battery after standing for a week or so ,
as i said at start, i know theres the Ctek chargers but this is quite a cheap alternative that works brilliantly

They make good kit too Andy, popular for split charge relays so no reason why their mains chargers would not be good too Altox GSM FBH controller thread

I use a cheapo Lidl charger to keep my battery happy. One of the forum members recommended Lidls smart charger and for the money, you can't beat it.
It has a number of different settings inclu a maintenance setting and a winter setting. I changed the end fittings over to the C-Tek fittings. I fitted this to the D3 ( you have to extend the cables ) Battery cable link and then fitted the male end of this cable to the charger leads Linky
The cable fitted to the D3 sticks out from the gap in the front of the bumper and hooks up really well to the charging lead and the cables are long enough for me to keep my charger inside the garage with the leads going under the door to the car.Mods:

Got all my stuff from local motor factor, they stock loads of random bits and if they don't have what I want they can get it usually next day ðŸ‘
