Xenon lights.
Is it possible to upgrade to Xenon lights on a standard Disco 3?
If so, would it be a tricky job and would it be recommended?
Thanks

Unlike other cars where there is an issue with having to fit the self levelling parts with a disco 3 having air suspension you can just take off the old ones and fit xenons

It's a straightforward swap, just remove the front grill, pull the retaining tabs and unplug the connector on the rear. Mines a GS so it had the halogen lamp units but I've converted to xenon, they may flicker when turned on but updating the CCF resolved that issue.GAP IID Pro Multi Vehicle Defender L316 2007-2015 - Discovery 3 - Discovery 4 - Discovery Sport L550 - Freelander 2 - Range Rover Evoque L538 - Range Rover L322 - Range Rover L405 - Range Rover Sport L320 - Range Rover Sport L494 Electrical Fault Diagnostics

I thought there was a need to have headlamp washers and some method of adjusting the beam height (all D3s with air suspension do this anyway) otherwise you will fail the MOT Test. It may be just some EU regulation for new cars, however.
There's nothing in the MOT Tester's manual that says that the windscreen washer reservoir has to have washer fluid in it, mind.

Same here, passed a MOT back in February without any headlamp washers.
Extract from UK MOT
Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps may be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp self levelling system.
Where such systems are fitted, they must work; however, it is accepted that it may not be possible to readily determine the functioning of self levelling systems. In such cases, the benefit of the doubt must be given.
Method of inspection
Where HID or LED dipped beam headlamps are fitted, switch on the headlamps and check the operation of any headlamp levelling and cleaning devices fitted.
Reason for rejection
A headlamp levelling or cleaning device inoperative or otherwise obviously defective.GAP IID Pro Multi Vehicle Defender L316 2007-2015 - Discovery 3 - Discovery 4 - Discovery Sport L550 - Freelander 2 - Range Rover Evoque L538 - Range Rover L322 - Range Rover L405 - Range Rover Sport L320 - Range Rover Sport L494 Electrical Fault Diagnostics

Easy upgrade. Just unplug halogens and install Xenon. Takes 5 minutes and they work fine.
Cost is around £300 a pair which you can get back when you sell on the D3

I am de tango'ing mine..... you know the 'bog standard' lights soon ..... footy and work got in the way this weekend ...
Then after reading threds on bulbs etc ., was looking to upgrade those ....
Now we have xenons !! FGS I will never get out of work at £9 p hour
Is it worth putting the money to these then and leaving bulbs n stuff alone on the old girls set .... or do you get xenons and new bulbs as well ???

Cut to the chase buddy and buy some Xenons - they are worlds apart from the Halogens, the halogens will seem like 2 candles once you've tried the Xenons
