load liners

I am after a rigid type load liner for my new d3. I see that the 2 main options are OEM or Britpart. I have heard plenty of bad things about Britpart when I had a defender- has anybody got any experience of the liner? it is about half the price of the landrover one.

I want something that contains mess- sticky honey and beekeeping things- and most importantly can be hosed down. I will probably also get a hatchbag type thing for when the seats are down.

For non-safety critical parts, Britpart are OK.

Just wouldn't trust them with ball joints, bushes or brakes Laughing

There are a number of options on the auction site at the moment OEM and lookalike.

I typed "Loadliner for Discovery 3/4"

Thanks. I did have a look, but hadnt put loadliner as one word.

i am still not 100% whether to start with the hatchbag, or to go with a rigid- I want the vehicle to be predominantly "limousine(!)", with the option of putting seats down for carrying stuff, rather than 90% van, where I have to clear it out when giving somebody a lift! The boot is bigger than most vehicles I have had, so i dont plan to have to fold down seats too often.

The one thing that puts me off the hatchbag is the fact that it makes the vehicle look like it is on standby ready to be used for a tip run at any time, whereas at least the rigid isnt really notices.

I have the hatch bag in the back for general protection and when just doing brief inspections on the hives. Hive tools, sprayer, queen marking kit and fondant etc I keep in a plastic box from the pound shop.

When moving supers I bought a cheap rigid plastic tray that is big enough to stack supers in. I shall have a look tomorrow and see if there is a stamp on it. I bought it quite a while ago and cannot recall where from.

steve- very valuable info from somebody that faces exactly the same issues. I know exactly the tray that you mean for supers. it was specifically supers and fondant that i dont want to combine with carpet!

might just go for a hatchbag then. At least it protects the backs of seats, and the sides.

Anybody seen these in the flesh as an alternative?

No worries. As I carry fondant all year round I keep that in its own little plastic tub. It does get warm in the back of the car and melts a little but stays contained. It did have an advantage for me in that when the 12.5kg block melts into the tray shape it fits in my feeders better.

What hives are you using? I have lost one this winter where it blew over in the last lot of winds.

i have a mix of langstroth jumbo (dadant frames) and national. I am popping down tomorrow to strap them all down to stands. One blew over last year, but survived, and is on a better stand now which will help. Luckily a friend had popped down to see how his hives were. I am using poly hives now.

I have tried one poly langstroth last year with poly frames. Quite impressed so I shall change over my commercials next year to poly langstroths.

Good luck and have a good season.
