Rolling with laughter

In answer to the OP, as Geoff has said, stick to the original Land Rover stuff.

Part number is STC50519, Extreme Climate PAS Fluid. Expect to pay around £23 for a litre from a dealer. Can be found cheaper elsewhere though

LR don't actually make fluids.

What is required is the specification it conforms to

It's made by Texaco, I may have a bottle in the rear cubby of the car. Wait one......

The LR stuff is Texaco Cold Climate Fluid
http://www.texacobaltic.eu/en/products/car...fluid.html

However it seems like it's not easily obtained except through LR dealers at LR dealer prices.

Steve at Advanced Factors sells CHF (Central Hydraulic Fluid) in 1 litre bottles which apparently is very similar to the Texaco stuff. Maybe worth asking him if any customer had any issues with it.

Yup, Texaco Cold Climate, also known as "that stuff you can pretty much only buy through Land Rover dealerships".

I also found two "Battin" luxembourg lager cans and a "small person on board" label. I wonder how those got there? Evil or Very Mad

A bit of googling suggests that:

"Texaco 33270 meets the L/R 14315 spec, GM MS 5931, Chrysler 9985835, MAN CHF 11 S and the ubiquitous ZF TE-ML09(B) power steering fluid spec"
