Strange things going on with lights and locking ?

Hi learned members Thumbs Up

When I lock my D3, the indicators flash 3 times as normal, then intermittently the side lights start to 'flicker' Shocked

When I unlock, the indicators flash one slightly longer flash, and the side lights come on half way through this flash (so . . at that point both the indicators and side lights are on together) then they extinguish at the same time.

I have no fault lights or DTC's present, so am at a loss as where to even start with this one Crying or Very sad

Anyone had anything similar, or any ideas Whistle

Sounds like a bad earth connection in one of the light units Steve Thumbs Up

I did think it might be a bad earth connection somewhere, or possibly some water ingress into the loom, thee is obviously some leakage current from somewhere ?

but any ideas where I should start, this could potentially be a Censored big headache Big Cry

p.s everything else in the car appears to be working normally (which is actually worrying ha ha ha Whistle )

Just work your way along the loom back from the lights and inspect the earth points. If you get as far back as the earth points with nothing obvious then get a tester connected or seek help.

Do you have a DMM?

Hi Robbie,

Thanks for the info, appreciated Thumbs Up

What's DMM Question (I know I'll kick myself when you say Laughing )

I have a full copy of the wiring diagrams, but it's more a case of knowing where the earthing points are Whistle

Looks like it may be 'wet weather' related, as it's stopped now it's dried out a bit, the weirdest thing was the rear lights pulsing on/off for a nano second approx every 2-3 seconds (looked very cool actually Thumbs Up )
