Help required "hidden memu" and Newbie

Hi newbie checking in collected my java black HSE TDv6 a week again and absolutely love it! However I do seem to be having a starting issue, I left an intireor light on which proberbly didn't help ;( but even after a run and then left overnight it's a struggle to start.... Also the imobiliser light continually flashes when it struggles to start. I have done some reading on here about a hidden menu so I can check Battery output, I have read a few posts on here and search the net a watch many YouTube videos, but to no avail, can anyone help if I can't access it I presume I don't have it...?

Or shed any light on what might be causing this issue?

Regards
Nathan

Welcome to the forum!

The hidden menu is a very poor method of checking the state of charge so I do not recommend it at all.

You need a real voltmeter or digital multimeter to check the voltage on a battery left overnight and to check the alternator output when the engine is running. If the battery is low you will need to charge it with a proper charger as the output from the alternator would take an eternity to fully charge a flat battery. You will see that Ctek chargers are very popular on this forum.

Take a good reading (ie after it has been parked overnight or had the surface charged removed by a few mins with the headlights on with engine off) before you charge it, just so you know the 'before' result.

So after much messing around with the battery, I found out that it was the wrong size ;-( only 720 amps and not the recommended 830 amps Land Rover recommend for the TDV 6, so new battery fitted today and all well no issues and everything is working.....

Thanks for any help and advice greatly appreciated....

Whilst is is true that your vehicle came with a minimum of 825 amps this was upgraded to a larger size due to power issues. Hopefully your new battery is in excess of this figure or even an AGM type.
