Yep, it's really rather good.

I have quite a few thoughts as to what the next update should include too!

You will need new units, tho, as the hardware is different.

Ok so im sure i will get flamed for this just to to confirm,

the current IID tool is on software version 2.18 (enabling steering angle re-set etc)

Also just to confirm does the BT tool purely adds that function i.e if you plug the std tool into a laptop the functionality is exactly the same.

Had a good read but cant really seem to get a concrete answer to these points.

if anyone can enlighten me i would be very greatful Smile

No Sloppy, the standard IID Tool cannot be connected to a laptop.

The USB port is purely for firmware flashing. All the functionality of the standard IID Tool is effected through the steering wheel cruise control buttons and the LCD display between the tacho and speedo.

The BT version gives you added convenience of being able to operate the tool without being stuck to the driver's seat, and obviously have much more "screen estate" to display stuff, values, graphs etc. Thumbs Up

Essentially the two tools are the same, same functions same way of accessing the diagnostics when plugged into the car.

The BT one has the additional benefit of being able to be controlled via a suitable device:

-iPhone 4S, 5 and up
-iPad 3rd gen and up
-iPad Mini
-iPod Touch 5 and up

Are the main ones being developed at the moment, though an Android version will be available in a few months time.

As far as I can tell, the biggest benefit, though, of the BT version is when displaying live values. Which is what Robbie was showing above.

Hi Guys

Actually it can be controlled using a PC and the associated software in cases where the cruise control buttons are not fitted, defective or need to be activated before using the regular Integrated Interface. For the moment, it does not offer any advantages over the regular integrated interface (cruise control buttons and instrument cluster screen).

The IIDTool BT will work on the following devices:

-iPhone 4S, 5 and up
-iPad 3rd gen and up
-iPad Mini, All
-iPod Touch 5 and up

We had confirmation that it does also work on these Android devices with the first version of the App (not V2.0 which will be released in a few months):

-Nexus 4 (2013 and up)
-Nexus 5
-Nexus 7 (2013 and up)
-Samsung Galaxy S3, S4
-Samsung Note 3 and up

Apple devices are preferred since the App will always be updated on these devices first. Keep in mind that all of the above Android devices have to be on OS 4.3 or 4.4 in order to connect to the IIDTool BT. The list of Android devices will become more populated as OS 4.3 and 4.4 become available.

Cheers!

Excellent so in theory i can sit with a laptop/pc and use the std iid tool with the graphs(for example) and interface through my pc rather than cruise control buttons (not really that reliable in my d3!!) which was one reason for asking.

do you supply this software through your website so i could use the iid tool in this manner?

also is it software version 2.18,

many thanks Joe

Hi Joe

The current PC software is only a replica of the integrated interface (4 buttons and a screen display), it does not allow viewing live values in a graph scale like on an iPad for example. It is only used as a backup solution in specific cases.

The PC software is available for download on our website. The IIDTool itself needs to be at V2.18 or above.

Cheers

Hi
I Like to know if in the future it will be possible for those who do not have the bluethooth iid tool unit connect trough cable and access the interface on the mobile phone or tablet without having to use the cruise control buttons.
Tks
