Its a big place ? Which part are you wanting to visit / see ?
Dales, moors, coast, towns, city's or village pub type affair ?
There are plenty of sites, one that springs to mind is in Thornton-Le-Dale, if that doesent hit the spot nothing will ! Only dead fish go with the Flow !

There's one at Hawes which is really nice, the village is practically outside the gate, it's a good central point to explore from, and if you want a day trip further afield, it's not too far to the lakes from there. It's also walking distance from the Wensleydale cheese factory and visiting centre which is worth a visit, as well as Asygarth Falls which is nice.
The CC also have one called Lower Wensleydale we stay at a lot. It's in an old quarry so it's on a couple of different levels, if you like steam trains, the renovated line runs right next to the site and it's a short walk to the station/museum and village (Leyburn is pretty good) is also close to an attraction called Forbibben Corner, which is great for adults and kids, as well as several national trust sites close by. Well recommended!
Both these sites are pretty close as any of the attractions for either can be reaches with a bit of a drive out Just 'cos your paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you!

.... Forgot to mention, if you prefer coast, there's a CC site called West Ayton near Scarborough. It's about 3 miles out on the Scarborough Pickering road and again set in a quarry. It's close enough to Scarborough to make it a short drive, but far enough away to avoid the noise etc. there lots of walks from the site, nice pubs in the village, and if you've a young family, there's a play field and play parks on the site.
There is other CC parks around Yorkshire, but we've stayed at these a number of times and can definitely recommend these ones. Hope this helps Just 'cos your paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you!
